I was in Oshawa Ontario when SARS was at it's peak. My grandmother was dying (old age, she was 82). I remember the hospital was under quarentine and they only let her in to have a bed because she was already dying. It was hell trying to get in to say goodbye to her. My oldest son was 3, and ended up getting bitten on the face by a family member's dog while I watched my gramma die. We couldn't take him anywhere because all clinics and the hospital were locked down. I ended up having to hop on a bus and go home to Niagara Falls to get him into the ER. I missed the funeral, my son almost lost his eye. I was in the hospital sitting beside him when they locked down the hospital he was in. I had the option to leave, but decided to stay. By that point some 40 people had died from SARS in Southern Ontario.
