Get your notepads out because in this video I will show you how to create a vegetable garden planting plan to ensure food abundance throughout the year.

Very helpful Huw. You are a great teacher and delightful lad.
This is very useful. How I’m going to draw my garden is a challenge as it’s no dig but without sides and no bed shapes either as I like round shapes and patchwork dotted around with varieties in blocks but also mixed. I guess as long as I keep up with sowing and replanting and focusing on staples, I can free style on the planting itself and have rough zones planned out. I don’t really know my garden capacity yet and still learning about spacing plants so it’s going to be a learning curve ???
Hi. Thanks for the idea of a monthly plan. I've set up a spreadsheet and it's much less daunting planning month by month . I've had my allotment for two years and it's getting better each year. Your advice has been really useful. Thankyou
Thank you so much! Do you have your last frost date in the mid March, as you sow potatoes directly in this time? Or you protect your beds in any way? Thanks for doing that great job!
Thank you so much Huw for simplifying garden planning. As a new gardener I hope that in your future videos you will refer to the plan each time you sow plant or harvest veggies. Thank you again
Very informative. I started monthly plans back in December 2019. At the mo they are hand written excel forms while I see how it works out. Mine doesn't include bed plans but I have an online system that does that. Key extras I have is when to prune shrubs (garden, not allotment/veg growing) and when to get things growing on heat; both worked badly last year for me! I have seen somewher online it will take most folk around three years to get this right; we all have to start somewhere 🙂 August is key for getting the over wintering / Christmas veg in the ground I believe. Someone must have done a video …
Dear Huw. I need to ask you if you're planning any weekend courses this year, that I can put in my calender. You have been asking before if people would come – I would come from Denmark if I had time to plan it.
Huw, what an interesting idea. I live probably 50 miles from you, so your tips and experiences resonate. I will definitely try the monthly planning approach in my chrome book. Thanks Sue
Excellent service, thank you! I was sitting at my table with about 30 packets of seeds and wondering how to deal with them! This brilliant video has just helped me to tackle the planting and I’m certainly going to put them in a monthly order and hope I will have food abundance this year. Please carry on with the good work and Bless you for helping!
I like this. I am a market gardener. Last year was my first year selling at the farmers market and I know there were things I wanted to do differently like succession planting. Just going month to month like I do my budget makes it look less complicated. I am also going to try to like the three sisters to max out my 1/3 of an acre land
Excellent video, full of very good information. I’ll definitely be looking at doing the month by month plan this year, so thank you for the video & look forward to seeing more from you in the future. ?
2/19/2020 12:30 pm eastern USA time. Just received a notice from Amazon that "due to a lack of availability, we will not be able to obtain [your new book]". FYI. Your book is not shipping via Amazon. I preordered 2 months ago.
This is such a great idea Huw, I never really make any plans as I'm never sure how much space I will have so I just sow the seed and cram it in somewhere but once my veg plot is up and running I will definitely use this idea, thanks very much. Take care, Bethan ?
Thank you so much for this video! This is so helpful. I am very overwhelmed every year and this will help me to simplify and get a better handle on how to rotate/succession plant.
Huw, here is an example of your exceptional ability to explain clearly, concisely and precisely the necessities for successful gardening. There is an overwhelming amount of information available out there on the web and not all is well presented as yours is. I know I can rely on your videos to help keep me on the right track and give me good ideas and ways of thinking about my gardening which will not only benefit my results but save me time, effort and money. Ardderchog. Cadwch y fideos i ddod, Huw.
Very smart way to plan..I have 2 new allotments plus my own garden so now I don't have to keep everything in my head and find out that I've missed the boat and not started my seeds off when I should have. Thanks Huw, and love your hoodie by the way (on my Permaculture Design Course at the moment) ???
……GROUNDBREAKING. People always talk about planting/growing annually and I’ve always wonder why there isn’t a different way to keep crops in rotation? Excellent tips, I’m so excited to get your book!
Its a 4th year that im having a gardening diary, and I make planner based on it. I like to cut each month by ten days and plan jobs for each part accordingly. I like this idea of adding an actual map to that!
This video is a goldmine of information, and it’s free!!!! Love love love it. Thanks Huw for all your help and information I’ve learnt so much from you. Keep up the good work. ??????
Thanks for this. I'm a techie – I happily spent years working on the soil and let the plants take care of themselves with the help and planning of my partner. Now I'm on my own, I've got to become and end user with thinking it's boring!
